After you find water, your next step is to find food. Make sure that you have a high-energy snack food, such as canned salmon or nuts, in case of an emergency; however, this food will not last forever. Though humans can live for 1-2 weeks without food, food is what provides us with essential vitamins and minerals for our bodies to function properly, as well as the energy to carry out activities. Be sure to always cook your food to avoid ingesting possible parasites or bacteria; cooking also makes the food taste better. If you are not sure if a potential food source is poisonous or not, do not eat it. Potential food sources include both plants and animals.
